Mavericks Surf
The photograph captures a surfer walking through shallow water, thoughtfully carrying his board and making the trek to the Mavericks surf site. The sun is setting behind the surfer, , creating a glistening ocean and beautiful backdrop for the scene.
The last surfer is walking through the shallow water, his feet not visible, and his board draped over his shoulder.. His hair is blowing in the wind, and I imagine his face to be thoughtful, with determination and excitement.
For me the photograph captures the surfer in his element, making the trek to a place where the waves can reach heights of up to 50ft. His journey to Mavericks is not just a physical one, but an emotional and spiritual journey as he prepares to take on the challenge of riding some of the biggest waves in the world.
